Mississippi joined the Confederacy on Feb 4, 1861, but until June 1, with the establishment of the Confederate postal system, all mail was still carried by the U.S. Post Office. However, the Confederate postal system, once established, made no provision for registered mail. Hence Confederate registered covers only can exist prior to June 1, 1861.
