Shanghai, China (FX-SH1d), on 1901 parcel label still attached to piece of burlap wrapper from Tientsin, China, via Shanghai to Bangor, Me.; Chinese stamps totaling 7¢ tied by Tientsin c.d.s.s (Mar 30), then 48¢ worth of First Bureaus added, paying the 8¢ registry fee plus 8x the 5¢ U.P.U. rate; few stamps damaged (possibly one Chinese missing). A most unusual surviving example, the wrapper is endorsed "one silver cup, 1 hoe (?) value $18.50 gold".
