Post Office, clear red Jun 2 (1861) c.d.s. with "PAID 5" on a small, neat cover with a defaced U.S. 3¢ 1857, the day after U.S. stamps were no longer valid in the Confederacy, the stamp was apparently affixed by the sender but refused and partially peeled off by the postal clerk; to Carroll Hoy & Co. in New Orleans.
