1917, 3¢ light violet, type I, unwatermarked, perf 11 (501), original gum never hinged, flawless centering within perfectly balanced jumbo margins, brilliant rich color. Superb, incomparable gem, the highest grade awarded by both the PF (this is the only example) and the PSE (which awarded this lofty grade to one other example). SSV $475 (SMQ $650).
