Australia, 1925 (June 12) receipt for £13.10.0 for landing charges and taxes on 120 parcels, bearing 1903 compond perf. 5/- dull green (S.G. D33) interpanneau block of thirty containing seven gutter pairs and block of twenty-four cancelled by "Parcel Post Townsville/Queensland" c.d.s., inevitably there are some faults to be expected on a piece of this magnitude but these are primarily the lower non-interpane pair of the former creased and one stamp at foot of the latter block defective, a spectacular item, the largest recorded multiple of the high values of this design and the only reported gutter pairs of the 5 shillings.

Barbados, 1935 (Jan. 18) window envelope to St. James (Jan. 30), meter 2¢ in postage from Montreal, Postage Due 1¢ black diagonal bisect with manuscript surcharge "½" in red ink (S.G. 2a) tied by "G.P.O./Barbados" c.d.s., with arrival c.d.s. on reverse, envelope has a few faults, the bisect is Very Fine, less than 120 bisects used over several months, this being one of the few surviving commercial uses. (July 10) and the Paid handstamp voided by corresponding circular grid, pencil "1187" is the San Francisco post office's ledger number for mail "held for postage," Extremely Fine exhibition item.

This is the perfect illustration of one of the very few instances when mail was carried privately to the border and deposited with a local U.S. postmaster and processed as a domestic unpaid letter rather than the standard practice of being carried to the USA by boat and being handled as a foreign letter at the 10 cents rate.

Prince Edward Island: 1871 (Nov. 17) 3¢ postal stationery envelope to Charlotte Town (Nov. 23), cancelled by "Richmond/Ind" duplex in blue, with unframed "10" and crayon "6d" notation adjacent, and bearing on reverse compund perf. 6d yellow green (S.G. 25) tied by "13" in barred oval, showing accompanying "Charlotte Town" c.d.s. adjacent, the 6d has minute split at foot between perfs., Extremely Fine and noteworthy usage, a great example of USA-Canada cross-border mail.

During this period the postal agreement between the USA and Prince Edwards Island required prepayment in full at 6d or 10c, partial payments were ignored and therefore this cover, though prepaid 3c was charged the full 6d.

Northern Rhodesia, 1952 (Aug. 13) cover written in native hand to Mkushi (Aug. 17), bearing ½d pair cancelled by origin c.d.s. and Postage Due 1953 (July 1) Provisional typewritten surcharge "postage/ due/1," in red on 1d green and "POSTAGE/DUE/1d." in red on 1d green (roughly separated into design at top), each neatly tied by "Mkushi/Northern Rhodesia" c.d.s., envelope has central vertical filing fold, very rare and outstanding cover, approximately a dozen covers known with this Provisional which the sub-postmaster authorized following the increase in the internal letter rate from 1½d to 2d, which resulted in the depletion of stocks of Postage Due stamps at Mkushi, and this is the unique example of the upper and lower case surcharges used together.

Southern Rhodesia, 1952 (May 5) cover from Nyazue to Lower Gwelo, bearing ½d pair cancelled by depature c.d.s. and Postage Due 1951 "Southern / Rhodesia" overprint 3d violet and 4d dull gray green (S.G. D2, D6) tied by "Lower Gwelo/S. Rhodesia" c.d.s., the 4d was normally issued in blue but a few examples of the green stamp were inadvertently overprinted and distributed to the post offices at Fort Victoria and Gwelo, very fine and a modern postal history rarity, this cover represents part of a bulk charge for several letters sent by a missionary group which purposely underfranked the letters on account of the high level of non-response by the natives to whom these envelopes were given for corresponding with the mission, less than ten such covers recorded with the Due 4d green.

D8), in the distinctive shade of the first printing, crisply tied by "Trinidad" c.d.s., small central spike hole, very fine, the UPU rate for unpaid mail, the cover has a "6" accountancy mark in blue crayon which may be a credit to the ship's captain though none was due under UPU rules; to the best of our knowledge the earliest known use of the first Due issue on cover, this is the only 8d recorded on cover of less than ten pre-1900 Postage Due covers known, a highly important cover.
