1855, 10¢ green, type II (14), pos. 80R, large to huge margins, tied by Maine c.d.s. on cover to Sonora, Cal., readdressed to Murphys Camp and paid with 3c Dull Red (11), margins to cutting, attached with wax wafer and tied by "Sonora Cal. Jan. 26, 1858" c. d.s., the presence of faint all-over grayish black ink on the stamp which is different from the Sonora ink, and the need for a wafer both suggest this stamp had been used before, though our estimate here is based on the forwarding usage, which is uncommon when found paid in full, and the 10c stamp itself, which happens to be an Extremely Fine gem.
