  U.S Military and Political Autographs 1785-1972, approximately. 100 autographs on letters, folded letters, checks, documents and photographs neatly housed and priced in a large binder with a total retail price of $5,000.00. While there are a few other categories, the majority are U.S. Navy autographs including. various admirals and Secretaries of the Navy (1813-1921) such as James Forestal. Perhaps the most important item is an 1801 letter (invitation to breakfast) by William Wilberforce, the famous British abolitionist. However, there are also various notable elected officials e.g. George Norris, Alfred Driscoll and Hamilton Fish; there is a second binder with mostly illustrated 19th and early 20th century letterheads (often with original covers) as well as some other Americana. Dealer's total retail of $1,200.00; a F-VF and most attractive lot, well worth inspecting.

Inludes mid-19th century colored maps, partly-printed Civil War Slave documents, slave tokens, several Civil War-dated New York Herald Tribunes including April 10, 1865 announcing Lee's surrender, political convention tickets, 19th century stock certificates, 18th century indentures, etc., etc. If your Mindelheim & Kirchheim has an historical bent, leave plenty of time to view this one.

18th and 19th Century Land Deeds, fabulous holding of about 90 Indentures for Land from the early 1700s to 1870, even one dated 1634. Beautiful, large size, meticulously hand-written or partly-printed documents, many with attached seals and/or revenue stamps. A great lot for a promoter, these would be great for framong and should easily retail for $100-$200 each.

Times or Journal American with headlines and articles relating to the war including declarations of war on Japan and Germany, battles, dropping the A-bomb on Japan, and surrender and aftermath including the Feb 25th Times with the original AP photo of the marines raising the flag over Iwo Jima; also including sunday magazine sections from the Times plus a few other papers and magazines (Life magazine with Gen. MacArthur, "Commander of Japan"); turning quite brittle and in need of preservation but a fascinating lot.

World War II Scrapbook, packed with memorabilia from the war years: newspaper clippings, Civil Defense documents like How to Use Meat in Place of Fish, matchbooks, pamphlets, a small Ships of the Navy "stamp" album, and ten colorful patriotic posters, some of which open to 30 x 40 inches or so; minor moisture damage not affecting very much (some of the Ship "stamps" have come unstuck) but generally fine. A fascinating lot.
