Registered c.d.s. and N.Y. exchange office oval, Aug 27, 1912, with Smolensk receiver alongside, unclaimed and returned with Oct 12th N.Y. registry division receivers on reverse and 1st and 2nd notice handstamps on front, Oct 16 & 17; card has some creasing from handling but is otherwise Very Fine and a very rare usage of the 10¢ registry stamp.

"R" oval on large Official Business registered cover, Official Business/penalty label applied at UR in lieu of postage but the registration fee had to be paid with a stamp; reduced about 1½" at R taking part of penalty label and part of address, a bit soiled, F-VF.

1870, 24¢ purple (U99), size 21 entire sent registered from Galveston, Tex. to England via New York, Galveston c.d.s. Oct 15 (1879), backstamped N.Y. Oct 20 & 21 with Oct 30 Liverpool Registered oval on front and back, opened a bit roughly at B, F-VF, shadow at lower left indicates that a block of four 1869 stamps has been removed, British blue crayon cross ends abruptly at the shadow and a matching "4" on reverse may indicate a 4x rate, meaning it was probably a block of 2¢ #113, overpaying the rate by 2¢ (UPSS #239, $350).

These envelopes contained advertising material and were distributed door-to-door like hand bills. Bomar recorded only seven examples (B01-13A).
