1847, 5¢ red brown (1), ample to large margins, tied by red grid, matching "Cincinnati O. 5 cts Feb 10" c.d.s. on buff envelope to Rushville, Indiana, manuscript "Via River & R. Road" at lower left; cover with small edge tears at top right, otherwise Very Fine, uncommon manuscript directive.

1847, 10¢ black (2), mostly ample to large margins, dark shade, tied by red grid and additionally cancelled by blue grid and matching rim of c.d.s. at right with both running off the stamp but not on the cover, on 1849 folded letter to Buffalo, red "Cincinnati O. 10 Nov. 6" c.d.s. at far right; stamp with tiny bends in top margin from placement at cover's edge, otherwise Very Fine, an outrageous example of postal fraud.

Expertization: 1991 P.F. Certificate.

Contents indicate the writer was receiving letters from the Buffalo addressee- this stamp may very well have been taken off one such letter (Buffalo used blue ink almost exclusively). Why neither office caught this obvious re-use of a stamp is inexplicable.
