1847, 10¢ black (2), large margins to clear at left, attractively cancelled by pen strokes, on undated folded cover with red "Mineral Point Wis. Mar. 17" c.d.s., light but clear strike, to Philadelphia; stamp with small toned spot bottom left, otherwise Very Fine.

THE ONLY RECORDED SINGLE 10¢ USED FROM MINERAL POINT.

Expertization: 1999 P.F. Certificate.

There are, however, three 10¢ bisects known from here.

1847, 10¢ black (2), large margins, tied by small "10" in oval, matching "Paid" and clear "Southport Wis. Dec. 22" c.d.s. on 1848 folded letter to Fairfield, Ct.; lettersheet with some tiny stains at top edge, stamp with pen cancel removed, Very Fine appearance.

THE ONLY RECORDED 1847 COVER FROM SOUTHPORT AND WITH A MOST LIKELY UNIQUE RATE HANDSTAMP AS WELL.

Southport received no stamps of either denomination.
