1847, 5¢ red brown (1), full to large margins, fine impression, well tied by blue "Baltimore Md. Nov. 11" c.d.s. on 1850 folded letter to Philadelphia with single copy of Baltimore, 1¢ red on bluish (1LB1), uncanceled with ample to large margins and pre-use creases, large manuscript "Due 5" written opposite stamps, manuscript "pd" at upper left, Very Fine appearance, a handsome and very rare usage.

Contents (with Mechanics Bank letterhead) indicates this contained additional enclosures, which accounts for the additional 5¢.

1847, 5¢ red brown (1), ample to large margins except in at bottom, deep clear impression, tied by red grid and matching "Boston 5 cts. 13 Jul." c.d.s. used with 1¢ blue on slate (3LB1), mostly ample margins, uncanceled, on 1849 folded cover to Salem, Mass.; 1¢ with usual gum toning, which "ties" the stamp through the envelope, otherwise Very Fine, rare and handsome combination.

"fd" and rated an additional 5¢ due; carrier with usual gum toning, front with small faults, Fine and unusual usage.

Fremont on the floor of the Senate, etc.; 5¢ with small scissors cut, 1¢ with tiny flaws in sheet margin's edge, Fine and very scarce.

Certificate declining opinion on the use of the carrier; in our opinion the stamp originated on this cover, and therefore the cover would be an 1850 use.
