Postage Due, 1879, 2¢ brown (J2), tied by pen cancel on legal size cover with large illustrated corner card of the Governor of Illinois featuring a beautiful engraving of the state seal, franked with a 2¢ red brown (210) tied by Springfield, Ill. c.d.s., June 1, 1885, handstamped "DUE 2" and blue crayon "Cragin" (?), Very Fine.

Sent from Illinois governor, Richard J. Oglesby, a former Civil War General to New York governor, David B. Hill, the lieutenant governor of Grover Cleveland. He assume office in January of 1885 when Cleveland resigned to become President.

Shanghai, China. U.S. Postal Agcy. Rec'd. 14 Nov 1910, four strikes of bold c.d.s. tie U.S. #303, 305, 306, 308, 331-333 & 340 on document by a Count M. M. Raitchevitch stamped and signed at the U.S., Austrian-Hungary, Russian and French Consulates in addition to the Club Union, it is unlikely this passed through the mails; the 57¢ may represent the count's age, a Fine piece, highly exhibitable.
