Sudan, Mammoth mint and used stock of thousands of stamps to 1968 on stocksheets and mainly broken down by issue. Starts with a large group of the 1897 issue which includes 21 of the 5pi #7 and 32 of the 10pi #8 and which totaled more than £7,750 Gibbons catalog value in 1996. Going forward almost every issue is equally well represented. The 1898 issue, for example had a 1996 Gibbons value of over £6,000, the 1902-21 issue was over £5000, the 1941 Palms cataloged more £8000 and the 1931-37 Airmails were over £6000. There are plenty of large multiples and full sheets (e.g. 9,450 sets of the 1963 Red Cross issue, #160-61, in full sheets). There is also a large group of used bundle stock but balancing that is plenty of overprint, watermark and cancellation interest on some of the earlier material. The whole was offered as more than 40 auction lots by Phillips of London in 1996 with a total estimated realization of more than £25,000. A fabulous holding.
Estimate 15,000 - 20,000
