Lot 60 |
|
BK Canal Zone 1909, 2c vermilion & black, error booklet (32c), four vertical format panes, stitched at bottom, in salmon colored style B covers intended for the 25¢ booklet of four 1¢ panes. Interleaving adheres to two of the four panes, all of which have light gum soaks. Otherwise a fresh Very Fine and rare booklet. Only about a half dozen are recorded. Estimate 1,500 - 2,000
A small press run of covers for the 1¢ booklet was mistakenly made on the salmon stock set inside for the 2¢ booklets rather than the lemon or pink stock meant for the 1¢ booklets. The workers assembling the booklets noted the color of the stock rather than the text and dutifully inserted 2¢ panes.
