Only three examples of the Type Va large oval postmark variety without year slug are recorded between Jun 9 and Jul 6, 1832, just prior to the introduction of the year slug.

Tallahassee Flo. Apl 19, 1841, fine strike of oval postmark with matching "free" on folded letter to Gen. R. Jones in Wash., D.C., blue manuscript "on service", Very fine and interesting content.

Letter reads, "I have this evening arrived here, Lt. Churchill in company having discharged all the militia east of this in Florida. The remaining three companies of Brig. Gen. Read, near this, will be discharged the first of the ensuing weeks".

Tampa Florida December 2, fine strike of rimless c.d.s. with blue manuscript day and "f" by postmaster on 1841 folded letter to Gen. R. Jones in Washington, D.C., letter was from postmaster Augustus Steele acknowledging receipt of a package, some fold splitting with reinforcement, Fine.

Seminole War Period Military Mail, group of five covers from the 2nd Seminole War (1835 to 1842) comprising a US Ship Constellation dateline on a folded letter from Pensacola; "St. Mark Florida" c.d.s. to a soldier at Fort Brooke; red "Tallahassee Flor." c.d.s. with matching free handstamp on folded cover to Washington, D.C. with docketing that it had contained a muster roll; folded cover with docketing from Brig. Gen. Armistead relating to the use of funds for the emigrating Indians; and a Pensacola use datelined Fort Barrancas from a Lt. regarding funds to purchase forage, F.-V.F. group with interesting content.
