1863, 2¢ black (73), 32 items, comprising 23 covers, five stationery entires, three revenue usages, and a picture postcard of this popular President, the covers are mostly single frankings on envelopes and circulars with a wide variety of cities and cancellations including colors, fancy geometric designs, floral, and "paid" straightline, various corner cards and advertisements, the stationery includes a used U46, mint W57, used U56, and a U52 upfranked with 3¢ rose grilled, few small faults to be expected, overall a clean and Fine to Very Fine group, an exciting opportunity for the Jackson collector.

Aphonso Taft was the father of President William Taft. He served as Secretary of War in 1876, Attorney General 1876-77, U.S. minister to Austria 1882-84, and U.S. minister to Russia 1885-86.
