1847, 5¢ red brown (1), ample margins to in at top, tied by two strikes of red grid cancel, matching "Boston 5 cts 7 Nov 7" c.d.s. on a mourning cover to Brooklyn, Conn., Very Fine and rare. Alexander does not record a mourning cover from Boston in the 1847 census.
