Hawaii Envelope, 1884, 1¢ light green (U1), with 2¢ rose overprinted in black, 1¢ yellow, 2¢ brown (66, 74, 75) tied to the entire by multiple strikes of "Honolulu, H.I. Jun 28, 1894" duplex to Peoria, Ill., purplish "Cleveland Bicycles / H.E. Walker, Agent" handstamped corner card, "T 20/CENTIMES" (20 was in pencil) and "U. S. CHARGE TO COLLECT 8 CENTS" handstamps, San Francisco and Peoria backstamps, Very Fine, the cover shortpaid the 10¢ double U.P.U. rate by 4¢ and was rated due 8¢ for double the 4¢ deficiency per U.P.U. regulations.

Hawaii Envelope, 1893, 10¢ black, blue inside (U14), cancelled by four-ring target with a 50¢ red (48), registered to Soldin, Germany, magenta "Honolulu, Hawaii, Jan 5, 1894" c.d.s., "Registered, Hawaii P.O." in large "R", and "A.R." handstamps, return address of A. Lemke on reverse along with San Francisco and New York transit c.d.s.s and Soldin receiver, a Very Fine and choice used example of this rare envelope.

This postcard was sent a few days after Admiral Dewey's flagship reached the coast of the United States on September 26, 1899. Dewey was returning from the Philippines after the Spanish-American war had ended and his duties were finished. He returned as a war hero leading a victory parade in New York City on September 30, 1899.
