Germany ca. 1912 Airship Hansa, black, white, and red ribbon from a drop-mail bag, pasted to a display page along with a multicolor picture postcard of the airship, Very Fine and rare. These colorful ribbons were attached to the mail bags to make them easier to locate.

Lot 2428

Germany 1912-14 Airships Viktoria Louise and Sachsen, multicolor souvenir passenger certificates, the Viktoria Louise for a flight from Baden-Oos to Iffezheim, 12 Sept 1912, the Sachsen for a Potsdam-Berlin flight, 15 May 1914; both are damaged to some degree, the second more seriously, but both are quite presentable and rare.

United States 1937 Hindenburg disaster, guest pass, approximately. 6" x 3", issued by the U.S. Naval Air Station at Lakehurst, May 6, 1937, magenta handstamp reads "Park in Zeppelin parking space, access to Zeppelin waiting rooms subject to Zeppelin Co. and customs regulations. This is NOT a permit to go aboard airship." with additional guest regulations printed on reverse, Very Fine and very scarce.

United States Hindenburg poster, large multicolor poster, 23¼" x 33¼", showing the Hindenburg above a sailing ship on the open sea, without the intended American Airlines overprint (see below).small insignificant edge tears, Very Fine and believed to be unique.

This poster was printed in Germany with the entire printing shipped to the U.S. office of the Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei [German Zeppelin Shipping Co.]. It was to be used by American Airlines to advertise their connecting passenger service at Lakehurst. A white overprint in the upper left corner read "American Airlines Inc., Exclusive Flagship connecting service at Lakehurst, N.J. with Airship Hindenburg". It was never distributed in unoverprinted form. The unoverprinted poster offered here is said to have been removed by F.W. von Meister, the U.S. representative of the DZR, before the posters were sent by him for overprinting. It is purported to have been displayed in his New York office.

United States 1937 Hindenburg disaster, document from final voyage, U.S. Labor Dept. form "List of Manifest of Airmen Employed on the Aircraft as Members of Crew, for Delivery to the Immigration Officers at the Air Port of Entry for Aliens", first line reads German, Aircraft No. LZ129, arriving at Lakehurst Air port of entry for aliens May 6th, 1937 From the Air port of Frankfurt/Main Germany, leaving May 2nd, 1937. Below is typed data on 12 officers beginning with Captain Max Pruss and 1st Officer Albert Sammt and including three 2nd officers, two 3rd officers, one 4th officer and four Radio Officers. The bottom of the form is an affidavit from Pruss, as Airman in Charge, that the manifest is "a full and true list of all crew"; Pruss’ name has been typed in but the form is not signed, as apparently this is the first of several pages that would have been required to list the entire crew of over 60. Overall size is about 12" x 11". Small tear at bottom along fold, otherwise a Very Fine one-of-a-kind original record of the disaster including the names of three of the 21crewmen who perished.
