Exhibition Quality Patriotic Covers, selection of 27 high quality covers with scarcer designs including 14 Magnus covers, nearly all of which are hand-painted and seven of which have all-over scenes on reverse. Also noteworthy (actually, each cover is noteworthy) is a Liberty & Flag bearing a 3¢ 1857 and a Blood's Local from Philadelphia to a Union soldier at Camp Oregon, Washington, D.C. In addition, two of the covers have matching letterheads and eight are accompanied by P.F. or P.S.E. certificates. A spectacular lot for the serious collector of Civil War Patriotics.

Civil War Collectibles, Small group consisting of a.) five colorful 1888 "Short History" booklets from Duke cigarettes, detailing the careers of Braxton Bragg, J.B. Gordon, Wade Hampton, J.E. Johnson, and Adm'l Semmes; mixed condition; b.) five playing cards with C.S.A. themes (these appear to be mid-20th century game cards); c.) a stereo card of General Robert Anderson, "the hero of Ft. Sumpter"; and d.) three different C.S.A. bank notes: $20 1861, $10 1863, and $20 1864, Very Fine circulated condition.

Spanish-American War Patriotics with Soldiers' Letters, Group of seven patriotic covers, each with a soldier's letter. The letters are written from Camp Alger (2), Camp Black, Camp Fernandina, Camp Geo. Thomas, Camp Meade, and from Charleston, S.C. ".…awaiting our transports for Cuba". All but the last are on patriotic letterheads (the Camp Meade cover is not a patriotic but features a steam locomotive in the corner card). A F-VF and interesting group.

Included are some scarce cancels and usages, incl. a "Stars & Stripes" homemade wrapper; Christmas Package Coupon, Lettersheet from Dental Corps officer; Scarcer APO Numbers, incl. early steel die postmarks. Also an AEF Siberia Censored cover. Some with original letters. Gen. F-VF and in much better condition than generally seen from this period.
