Japanese Post Office in Shanghai: 1883-85 envelopes (2) to the U.S. Consul in Nagasaki (English arrival datestamp), bearing Japan Koban 5s ultramarine and 5s grey ultramarine respectively, each cancelled by crossroads type with "I.J.P.A./Shanghai" origin c.d.s. adjacent, one envelope has "U.S.S. Monocacy" embossed imprint on flap, Very Fine pair of covers.
