A.B.N.C. Engraved C.S. German photograph of Lincoln, vignette die essay, India die sunk on card 103x128mm, engraved "Abraham Lincoln" and "American Bank Note Co." imprints, master die number "141" that was used for paper currency, accompanied by a copy of the photograph done by C.S. German on Jan. 21, 1861 that was designated as the Official Portrait of the President, Very Fine.

N.B.N.C. 2nd Vignette Essay, reworked die returned to smoother hair and longer bust of America's die, also with additional mourning frame elements surrounding vignette including wreath, shields and stars, impression on India die sunk on full size card 134x211mm with gilt edges, light toning and hinge remainder on front; accompanied by an 1863-64 bank note showing Lincoln vignette, Fine.

15¢ black, control number overprint in carmine, one misplaced (77S, 77S var.), block of 6 lower left stamp overshifted upwards. Remarkably well centered. Full o.g., center pair n.h. Some separation between top left stamps. Extremely Fine and choice.
