A GEM 1¢ 1861 ISSUE, QUITE SCARCE IN THIS PRISTINE NEVER HINGED CONDITION.

Expertization: 1997 and 2006 P.F. Certificates, the latter graded XF 90.

Here we have one of the finest never hinged 1¢ 1861s certified by the Philatelic Foundation. The highest never hinged grade awarded by the P.S.E. to date is an 85.

The 24¢ steel blue is one of the rarest of the 1861 issue with original gum. There are less than a dozen certified sound mint singles, and this example is unquestionably one of the finest.

THE RARE THREE CENT SCARLET IS VIRTUALLY UNOBTAINABLE WITH THE FRESH, VIBRANT COLOR OF THE EXAMPLE WE OFFER HERE.

On most of the mint "scarlets", the color is pale or shows a bit of "rubbing". The present example has the strongest color we have seen in a mint single with no "rubbing whatsoever.

WITH ITS BRILLIANT COLOR AND EXCEPTIONAL CENTERING, THIS 15¢ LINCOLN IS EASILY AMONG THE FINEST OF SURVIVING WELL CENTERED MINT EXAMPLES.

The 15¢ Lincoln is notorious for poor centering, and very few unused examples have retained their original gum. A well centered mint 15¢ is a true 19th Century rarity.
