Switzerland Collection, 1843-1959, a very impressive parallel mint and used collection in one album. The collection starts with four Cantonal issues: Zurich 6r 1L4, Geneva 5c large eagles 2L3-4, and Basel Dove 3L1, all with European certificates. The collection continues with an 1850 2½r Post Locale and keeps going just as strongly from there; Strubels are well represented (nine certificates), as are the Seated Helvetias, including a used 40c on granite paper (66, $3,400) with Certificate. Among the Numerals there is a used example of the rare 1882 15c orange (75a, $4,000) and the Standing Helvetias are virtually complete used plus several mint. Later material includes a used NABA sheet, two MNH "Pax" sets (and a used set) and, though there are no Semi-postal or Airmail pages in the album, there is a MNH B105 and a used C25a color error with Bossert certificate. Also, there are several listed plate and printing varieties. Condition is mixed early, though considerably better than average, and there are about 25 certificates. The later material is virtually all F-VF with plenty of NH. Owner's Scott value is over $57,000 with another €13,000 in Michel value for NH stamps. A terrific lot for someone wanting to start a collection of Switzerland and do so in a big way.
