6d red-brown (SG 99), lovely rich color, large margins all around, tied by "1" on 1864 (29 Apr.) green envelope from Auckland to the 12th Regiment, Victoria Barracks, Sydney, with "Sydney/Ship Letter" c.d.s. (10.5), stamp lifted and inaccurately replaced, small piece of flap at back missing, Very Fine Maori War cover from the Laver correspondence (an officer serving in the 12th Regiment) with this scarce stamp. 1/- green and 1864-67 watermarked large star perf 12½ 6d deep red-brown (SG 100, 122), tied by "Auckland/1" duplex on 1866 (30 June) envelope to Wells, Somerset (15.9), the 1/- is full-margined but has light crease at upper right corner, small cover tears at top center, nevertheless Very Fine 1s6d rate to the U.K. with 1/- paying the late letter fee.
