Garfield, Lucretia Rudolph (1832-1918), First Lady (1881). Free-franked cover, small mourning envelope endorsed "Lucretia R. Garfield" and addressed in her own hand to General Henry M. Cist in Cincinnati, postmarked Cleveland in May of 1884, reverse with Cincinnati receiver and "LRG" monogram on flap, F-VF. Henry M. Cist was a Civil War general and historian.

Harding, Florence Kling (1860-1924), First Lady (1921-1923). Free-franked cover, small mourning envelope boldly endorsed "Florence Kling Harding" with typed address to James Brownell, Postmaster at Woodstock, Vt., postmarked Washington, D.C., March 1, 1924 with Woodstock receiver below; small insignificant mounting stain at lower left, Very Fine.
Estimate 150 - 200

Mrs. Harding was granted the franking privilege on January 24, 1924 and died only 10 months later on November 22.
