New York Foreign Mail Covers, powerful group of about 120 covers or uprated postal cards bearing the distinctive cancellations of the New York Foreign Mail Service. Includes an excellent range of European destinations and a superb range of types with virtually every one identified by Weiss number and with a large percentage being supported by P.F. Certificates. All are single or double rate covers, being franked with 3¢ 5¢ 6¢ 7¢ or 10¢ Banknote issues or combinations thereof; the postal cards have all been uprated with a 1¢ stamp. In addition, condition is excellent with nearly everything being F-VF. This lot represents a wonderful opportunity to begin or add to a collection of this fascinating and increasingly popular field of U.S. postal history.

Weather Reporting Collection including Postmarks & Reports, collection of over 285 items of U.S. and some Foreign housed in seven volumes including 132 weather report cards, official report wrappers (82) and Bureau envelopes (10) including penalty clause frankings, Lansing Mich. Experimental postmarks (65 covers) and other cities (22) including San Dusky Ohio, Canton N.Y., Salt Lake City Utah, Racine Wis. and New Brunswick N.J., Foreign areas (28) include Canada (14) Mexico City 1902-03, Germany, Great Britain, Australia, Japan and India, some interesting items include three Weather Reports from abroad sent via the U.S. Consuls, "School Kit" sent by penalty mail to Teacher by request, 1893 Souvenir from the Weather Bureau at the Columbian World's Fair, RFD weather forecast slips, Weather Bureau penalty envelopes, etc. An important collection worthy of further study.

George Folsum Correspondence, extensive correspondence to George Folsom of over 235 letters (most include covers or outer address leaf as folded letter), many fascinating subjects including 1845 letter concerning the plans for Madison Park with map drawn in, group concerned with establishing an Astronomical Observatory in New York City, three 1858-59 ALS from Henry Rowe Schoolcraft, a few while at the Hague, etc., also includes group of 25 letters from Edward Folsom (George's nephew) written from the office at The Hague while his Uncle and Aunt were traveling to inform them what was going on in both the Netherlands and at home, a very interesting look at both the U.S. and Europe during this short period of time; Fine, A fabulous correspondence providing an intesting look at the past in America and Europe.

Director of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing 1877-78. Editor of the Philadelphia Press 1877-80, and again Clerk of the House Dec. 1881 to Dec. 1883 and Dec. 1889 to Dec. 1891.
