ONE OF ONLY TWO RECORDED 1875 2¢ VERMILION IMPERFORATE PLATE BLOCKS.

Expertization: 1968 P.F. Certificate (as block of 14).

Continental plate 161 was used for the several different special printings that included the 1875 Special Printing, the 1873 double paper variety, and the 1875 imperforate. The other recorded 2¢ vermilion imperforate plate block is from the bottom of the pane (Ex-Wampler, Chapin).
