The tête-bêche pair is exceedingly rare and possibly unique on cover. However, we would be remiss if we did not point out that the 10c Orphans Telegraph stamp (Ed.16) was not issued until 1938. Pego, War Production souvenir sheet (GG 1017), investment holding of 50 NH sheets acquired one at a time over many years, there are a few small edge flaws and a few with some light toning, but overall the sheets are F-VF. The owner has had a standing buy offer of $100 for some years and this is all he was able to acquire. [Due to the rise of the Euro against the Dollar, he has since raised his offer to $125 and still can't find any.] Believed to be the largest holding in the world at this time.
Estimate 4,000 - 6,000

Ron Shelley commented on the sheet several years ago: "…The price that Galvez put on the sheet in 1960 is 60 pts. He was no doubt aware of the printing (10,000) being a friend of the 'originator'. What he was not aware of was that the dealer who had permission to keep all the stock had been sitting on them for years—releasing very few and in consequence very few people have this particular sheet in their collection and I had not seen one until recently. Those that were fortunate to buy had to pay a lot more than the 60pts quoted by Galvez. The whole of the printing recently came into the possession of a friend. He then had the problem of what to do…he did not wish to lose his outlay either and of course there were those who had them already and had paid a 'rarity' price for them. So he destroyed the whole printing of 10,000 (less the few that had been sold) with the exception of 500 sheets and 300 sets sin dentar. This continued the rarity factor but at least, I presume that at last they will become available…".
