UNDOUBTEDLY ONE OF THE FINEST EXAMPLE OF THIS KEY CANAL ZONE STAMP IN EXISTENCE.
Expertization: 2004 PSE Certificate for block of 4.
The accompanying certificate for a block of four notes "disturbed o.g.";.however, we see no trace of disturbance on the gum of this stamp, which was the lower right stamp in the block.

Canal Zone, 1924, Unissued 5c-1b (69 footnote), complete set of seven, tropicalized original gum, F.-V.F. and rare. Scott $2,450
All but 600 sets were destroyed in 1924, once the U.S. Post Office was no longer required to overprint the stamps of Panama. The 600 sets had already been sent to the U.P.U., which required about 400 sets for its membership. Only a small number of sets have made it onto the philatelic market.
