Paid By Stamps May 21, blue c.d.s., rarely seen so well-struck, on 3¢ red entire (U1) with Nesbitt seal, franked with 1851 3¢ rose red (11A) pair & single, margins all around except left stamp barely touching frame at BL, rich color, R. stamp in pair with small pre-print paper fold, tied by blue grid of rectangles, double rate to East Longmeadow, Mass., 1855 docketing on reverse, Very Fine, rare and handsome usage.

Paid By Stamps Feb. 19" c.d.s. on 1858 buff cover to Canboro, Canada, light red exchange handstamp at right, Canadian backstamps, light diagonal crease at far right, Very Fine, very scarce combination to pay the 15¢ rate.

Lot 64

1863, 2¢ black (73), horizontal strip of three, canceled by two strikes of "Paid" handstamp, on double rate cover to Barnesville Ohio with "Johnson Ranch Cal. Feb. 5" double line Collin postmark; cover with minor wear, strip with a few age freckles, still Fine, rare west coast use of the Black Jack and an uncommon late usage of this style Collin marking. This Sutter County office became Wheatland in 1866.
