Revenue, 1862-71 First Issue, $1.90 Foreign Exchange, imperf (R80a), used on a Foreigh Exchange check for £3000 Sterling drawn on the Bank of Commerce in New York, Dec 15, 1863; the stamp, which has little to no margins, is canceled by a matching handstamped oval with an manuscript day of "12/15"; printed on somewhat brittle onionskin paper, there is some ink erosion and slight separation along one vertical fold; nonetheless, an attractive and very rare usage of the imperf $1.90 Foreign Exchange.

Revenue, 1862-71 First Issue, $50 U.S. Internal Revenue, imperf (R101a), three horizontal strips of three used with a perfed $10 Conveyance (R94c) on a large parchment deed executed in Philadelphia, April 5, 1864; all with matching manuscript cancels, the three strips with mixed margins and each with a light vertical document crease through one stamp; a fresh, Very Fine and rare documentary usage.

Expertization: signed Sloane with penciled position "50" on reverse.

All of these 60¢ invert proofs are lightly toned due to the fact that the original sheet of 85 hung in a frame on a collector's wall for many years. We did hear a report that some of these have been "freshened", but the present examples, and all we have seen are in their original condition.
