Canal Zone 1904, 8¢ on 50c bister brown, "PANAMA" overprint shifted (15 var.), both "PANAMA" at right, bright fresh color, very slightly tropicalized original gum (much less than usual), fresh and Fine.
Scott $2,750+

Expertization: 1991 PF Certificate as simply "previously hinged" and not noting the dramatically shifted overprint.

Scott notes that "the gum is almost always disturbed".

Canal Zone 1904, 8¢ on 50c bister brown (15 & 15 var.), vertical pair, bottom stamp with spaced "A L", type B "8", "PANAMA" overprint shifted downward about 25%, nicely centered, fresh and F.-V.F.

AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE, IF NOT UNIQUE PAIR, AS ONLY FIVE STAMPS WITH THE WIDELY SPACED "A L" WERE ISSUED.
