Danish West Indies, 1857 (July 25) Guadeloupe to Puerto Rico via St. Thomas, folded cover bearing red "Paid at Guadaloupe" crown circle and matching Guadaloupe (7.26) origin c.d.s., red crayon rating, St. Thomas (7.30) transit and Puerto Rico (8.3) arrival backstamps, blue "S. Tomas" framed handstamp applied upon arrival to indicate origin and matching "2½" (r.) due rating handstamp; some archival reinforcing, Very Fine appearing.

Tomas" framed handstamp applied upon arrival to indicate origin and matching "2½" (r.) due rating handstamp; Fine and rare.

Danish West Indies, 1889 (Aug. 5) Cap-Haitien, Haiti to St. Thomas, sharp strike of c.d.s. and bearing Provisional negative "Haiti, Postes, Capt-Haitien" paid handstamp, reverse with St. Thomas (8.10) arrival c.d.s., interesting and Extremely Fine.

Provenance: Schnell

The negative provisional marking was used by the new Haitian government to indicate postage paid. They did not want use the available stamps depicting the disposed leader.
