Canada, 1855, Prince Albert, 6d slate gray (Unitrade 5), ample to mostly large margins, used with 3d red (4), vivid color, four ample to large margins (slight crease from file fold), both tied by light strikes of numeral "21" four-ring cancels on blue folded cover to Quebec City, matching "Montreal L.C., AU 4 1857" c.d.s., reverse with partial Quebec (8.6) arrival c.d.s.; some thinning on back from mounting, an Extremely Fine and rare use prepaying the 9d triple rate for up to 1½ oz. Scott 5.

Canada, 1857, Queen Victoria, ½d rose (Unitrade 8), six singles, all with four large margins, tied by crisp bold strikes of numeral "27" four-ring cancels on orange cover to Joachim, U.C., red "City-of-Ottawa U.C., OC 28 1857" origin c.d.s., red Pembroke (10.30) and Fort William (10.31) transit backstamps, partial flap and top left edge repairs, a Very Fine use prepaying the 3d domestic letter rate. A STRIKING AND RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 3D DOMESTIC RATE PAID BY ½D STAMPS.

Canada, 1857, Queen Victoria, ½d rose (Unitrade 8), horizontal strip of six, full margins except slightly in at bottom, tied and canceled by neat strikes of concentric rings on folded letter to Montreal, matching "St. Eustache C.E., MR 12 1858" origin c.d.s., Montreal (3.13) arrival backstamp, Very Fine and choice use of strip to prepay the 3d single letter rate for up to ½ ounce. Canada, 1857, Queen Victoria, ½d rose (Unitrade 8), large beautifully balanced margins, bright and fresh, tied by squared grid cancel on bluish cover to South Cayuga, "Printed Circular." handstamp at upper left, Paris (9.10.1858) and Dunnville (9.10) backstamp transits; reduced slightly at right, a Very Fine and scarce ½d circular rate use. Scott 8.
