Canada, 1859, Beaver, 3d red & 1859, Beaver, 5¢ vermilion (Unitrade 12, 15), correspondence pair of 1859 printed promissory notes from Peterboro to Cobourg, first bearing the perforated 3d red (12) tied by numeral "30" four-ring cancel on cover prepaying the old 3d letter rate, with June 28 Peterboro c.d.s., only a few days before the currency change [July 1]; second bearing 5¢ vermilion (15) tied by "30" with July 8 c.d.s. prepaying the new 5¢ domestic letter rate mailed only a few days after the currency change, small cover fault; Very Fine. Canada, 1859, Beaver, 3d red (Unitrade 12), three singles, used with 5¢ vermilion (15), five singles, all canceled and tied together by matching concentric ring cancels on large size "O.H.M.S." endorsed official cover registered to Toronto, matching "Cayuga U.C., 1859 OC 8" c.d.s. and "Registered" straightline handstamp, endorsed "Registered", some additional docketing; one or two stamps missing (the sixth 5¢ single added at bottom is replacement), cover is extensively restored with part of back missing, however still a Fine and presentable example of this extremely rare combination usage of Pence and cents stamps.
