A STRIKING EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 6D CROSS BORDER MONEY LETTER.

Expertization: 1987 B.P.A. Certificate.

Provenance: Dale-Lichtenstein

The money letter system was a precursor to registered mail and was in use for four years of the pence period. The system required a receipt on delivery, but there was no other special protection and the 6d fee was paid in cash. The service was only available in Canada, as the U.S. had no such service.

This cover was offered as part of the Dale-Lichtenstein collection in 1968 where it realized $340.
