1908, 1¢-15¢ less 2¢ & 6¢ China Clay Paper Varieties (332 var.//340 var.), singles except 3¢ pair with plate number and part imprint selvage, rich colors, distinctive paper, o.g., F.-V.F. and scarce group.
Estimate $5,000 - 7,500

Expertization: each with P.F.C. as "China Clay" except 5¢ with APS cert. as mud paper, most submitted by Roy White.

Provenance: most ex-Roy White

The China Clay paper varieties are controversial now because of the White-Liston controversy. As a result, the Philatelic Foundation will no longer certify these, although experts agree they are printed on distinctive paper.
