AN ATTRACTIVE QUADRUPLE 15¢ TREATY RATE USE FROM THE PAYEN CORRESPONDENCE TO FRANCE.

Provenance: Feldman

The 60¢ prepaid the 1oz. (30 gram) quadruple letter rate with "48" cent credit to Great Britain (24¢ sea carriage, 8¢ British transit, 16¢ French transit). The folded letter was cancelled in the NYFM department on June 7, and sent to Boston to meet Cunard Line "Asia" that departed Boston on June 8, 1864 and arrived at Queenstown on June 18.
