Exchange Datestamp, two covers with unusual mechanical exchange datestamps, first Oct. 16, 1875 bearing #158, 159 at 9¢ rate to France with backstamp of red "New York, Oct 16, 11 AM" exchange d.s., and second 1876 folded cover franked with #179 and showing partial "New York Jan 15, AM" exchange d.s. to France; small faults, Fine and very unusual, only a few examples are recorded of this postmark. Estimate $300 - 400
This postmark matches the postmark style without outer rim and moustache only at bottom used on domestic mail in black and duplexed with "12" in horizontal bars. See Cancellation Club News.
