1894, 1¢ blue (247), top plate no. single, original gum lightly hinged if at all, flawless centering with perfectly balanced margins, bright and fresh. A Superb jumbo, the highest grade achieved either hinged on never hinged. SMQ $375. Scott $60
Expertization: with 2010 P.S.E. certificate graded XF-SUP 95 PH.
Provenance: Scarsdale (where it was sold as never hinged)
This stamp had 1987 and 2000 P.F. certificates and a 2004 PSE certificate, all with the designation of never hinged (certs are no longer present, copy of 2000 PF cert enclosed). We do not agree with the change to previously hinged.
