1926, 2¢ carmine, rotary, type I "varnish ink" variety (634 var.), upper left plate no. 19436 block of four, original gum never hinged, well centered. Very Fine. Estimate 750 - 1,000
THERE ARE BASICALLY NO CERTIFIED "VARNISH INK" VARIETIES CERTIFIED BY THE PF, THERE WAS #370, BUT A SIMILAR EXAMPLE LATER WAS CALLED "OILY INK". THERE IS ONE USED SINGLE OF 634. THE INK GIVES THIS BLOCK AN INCREDIBLY RICH COLOR COMPERABLE TO NO OTHER WE HAVE SEEN. A FAIRLY NEW DISCOVERY.
