France, 1912 R.M.S. Titanic, "TITANIC" straight line handstamp on cover mailed from France to Washington D.C., 25¢ blue sower on reverse tied by indistinct "Sathonay-Camp as well as a Washington D.C. receiver postmark "March 27, 1912", on the front is a fairly clear strike of the "Sathonay-Camp" postmark March 13, 1912, a blue control number, ms Dossier NO. 5631 written by the sender, and a purple boxed "Received Mar 28, 1912", applied by the addressee, fresh and choice Very Fine.

A CHOICE EXAMPLE OF THIS RARE "MISSED THE BOAT" COVER, WHICH IS AMONG THE FINEST OF THE 20 RECORDED EXAMPLES.

This cover, as well as the other 19 recorded examples, had been intended to be on the March 20, 1912 sailing of the Titanic, and was therefore marked with the "TITANIC" handstamp.
