Sale 263

Lot 1085

1863, 5¢ brown (76), rich color and a highly detailed impression, outstanding centering with the perforations well clear of the design. O.g. Extremely Fine.
Scott $1,350

Expertization: 2002 P.F. Certificate.

The 5¢ 1861-1867 values are exceedingly difficult to find well centered due to the close horizontal spacing which caused the perforations to impinge on either the top or bottom outer framelines. This example, in addition to being remarkably fresh, is one of the few mint singles that is both well centered and with the complete design.
