"Immortal 600" P.O.W. cover and letter, Cover cancelled Charleston, S.C., Oct. 31, 1864 with handstamped "10" endorsed "B G Brown Capt., Prisoner of War, Morris Island S.C." and "Per flag of truce, via Charleston"; letter is datelined "Officers Prison, Morris Island S.C., Sept 12th 1864", in it Capt. Brown writes to his parents in Mechums River, Va., telling of his rough trip form Ft. Delaware (leaving on Aug. 20 and arriving on Sept. 7) and of his hopes of being "exchanged when he arrived here, but I think the chance is bad". Letter has splits along folds reinforced with archival tape, cover is Very Fine.

Bezaliel G. Brown was captured at Gettysburg, July 3, 1863. He died at home, at the age of 30, in July of 1865, two months after his release from F. Delaware.
