Belgian Congo 1891, 10fr buff (13), tied by neat Matadi c.d.s., Apr 22, 1896, on registered cover to Brussels, blue oblique-boxed "Recommandé", backstamped Matadi (later the same day), Boma, and Brussels (May 26), red manuscript endorsement (in French) "This letter was franked by sender by means of a ten frank stamp" [probably so the postal clerk would not be held responsible for over-charging the sender, manuscript "14 grs." indicates weight of less tha a ½oz.], horizontal file fold, not affecting stamp, Very Fine and rare.
