Panama United States Consulate, Panama, excellent strike black intaglio seal on 1862 cover to the U.S. Minister in Guatemala City, manuscript "Consulate U.S., America, Panama NG", Very Fine, ex-DeVoss. Enclosed is a personal letter from Alexander R. McKee, U.S. Consul, in part expressing unhappiness over the Civil War, "this wicked and unprovoked rebellion". On the back of the envelope McKee has added an update "By telegraph from Aspinwall. Hurra for old Kentucky — Zollicoffen Army routed utterly and teetotally — he and Baily Payton left dead on the field — Humphrey Marshalls army also routed…" Estimate 500 - 750
