Liverpool England to New Orleans, Via New York, November 2, 1837, folded letter, datelined October 8, 1837, well struck red "New York ship Nov 2" ms "express mail" and "Virginian" for New Orleans, rare usage. Cal Hahn states there are only seven covers paying the 2¢ ship fee, of which only three are from New York, Jim Milgram states "at least half a dozen have been recorded", his research is included.
