THE UNIQUE ESSAY MODEL FOR THE 1877 POST OFFICE SEAL.

Provenance: Christiansen

This unique model is dated two days after the National Bank Note Company letter of 19 February 1877, in which they presented the pen-and-ink drawing to the Post Office Department. The National Banknote Co. presumably began the engraving shortly after sending the letter.
