Papal States: 1852 (Apr. 5) complete folded letter from Cento to Bologna (Apr. 5), bearing on reverse 2b olive green (Sassone 3) applied as Due, large to ample margins, tied by circular "TP" (tassa pagata) handstamp in blue, with departure and arrrival c.d.s. and manuscript "2" due marking, very fine and the earliest recorded use of any stamp serving as a Due; also 1852 (Oct.) official folded letter to Macerata sent unpaid and bearing on reverse 1b grayish green (Sassone 2) tied by "S. Benedetto" horseshoe handstamp.
